An Israeli company that lets travelers digitally book land and sea transportation worldwide has acquired a leading Brazilian online bus ticketing platform.
Travelier Group says its purchase of DeÔnibus is a strategic step to improve its services in Latin America, and will help to make it a one-stop shop for intercity land and sea transportation around the world.
The Ramat Gan-headquartered company comprises seven foreign subsidiaries specializing in travel in different locations, and bringing them all under one title allows users to access all their databases regardless of destination.
New addition DeÔnibus offers access to more than 36,000 routes across 80 percent of Brazil, and services some 30 million travelers every year.
“We have looked into the Brazilian market for quite some time, evaluating the landscape, the players and the potential. DeÔnibus has great foundations, a cultural fit to the Travelier group alongside scaling potential. I’m confident in our new journey together,” said Travelier co-founder and CEO Noam Toister.
“The bus travel market in Brazil has been going through changes in recent years, influenced by travelers’ new purchasing habits, digitalization and modernization of the sector, and regulatory changes. Internet sales penetration has been growing fast year after year and is expected to exceed 50% of total sales in the next 2 to 3 years,” said DeÔnibus CEO Breno Moraes.
