EyeWay Vision, an Israeli company creating extended reality (XR) glasses has been acquired by VoxelSensors, a Belgian startup specializing in sensing technology.
Founded in 2014, EyeWay Vision has pioneered immersive XR glasses, developing technology such as advanced varifocal projection and laser-based gaze tracker.
This technology brings with it power efficiency that allows glasses to be worn for extended periods, daylight visibility, virtually pixel-less and photorealistic 5K images.
VoxelSensors plans to use the Israeli R&D technology to improve its own development of XR devices, combining combine the technologies across various industries such as consumer electronics, smartphones and industrial applications.
“For widespread adoption, XR devices need to address human interaction, a synergy of sensing and perception modalities,” said Boris Greenberg, VoxelSensors’ VP of XR Solutions.
“I believe that by integrating our technologies, we bring the promise of wearable XR one step closer to fruition and enable the growth of this market with powerful use cases and truly immersive experiences,” he said.
“The acquisition of EyeWay Vision’s IPs marks a key milestone for VoxelSensors,” said VoxelSensors CEO Johannes Peeters.
“Together, these technological advancements position us as a major player in the rapidly evolving spatial and empathic computing market for mobile and XR devices,” he said.
“By combining our technologies, we can offer seamless and intuitive interactions in these domains, significantly enhancing user experience while utilizing our efficient SPAES sensor.”
