Cybersecurity Startup Expands Safety Checks To Cloud

Cybersecurity firm Pentera, which mimics hackers to root out security weaknesses, has unveiled a new test of the safety of businesses’ data stored in the cloud, in particular AWS (Amazon) and Azure (Microsoft) services.

Pentera’s system emulates attacks across the attack surface to pinpoint potentially exploitable gaps that need to be addressed to thwart a potential hacking attempt. 

The system is designed to carry out the assessments automatically, without disrupting an organization’s ongoing operations. Once any breaches have been located, the system offers immediate remediation guidance.  

In its announcement of the new Pentera Cloud system, the Petah Tikva-based company cited research showing that 82 percent of cyber breaches involve data stored in the cloud.

“The market for Continuous Threat Exposure Management (CTEM) is rapidly accelerating. Organizations are aligning their security efforts to account for business and cyber exposure that is increasingly moving to the cloud,” said Ran Tamir, Chief Product Officer at Pentera.
