Israel’s leading tour bus company, Egged Tours, has decided to install an Israeli driver safety solution on all 300 of its vehicles.
The SaverOne System will be installed on the first 80 buses in the coming weeks, with the other 220 to be fitted at a later date. Egged Tours is a subsidiary of Egged, Israel’s largest bus company, which operates more than 3,000 vehicles on over 400 local and intercity lines across the country.
The safety platform created by the Petah Tikva-based startup prevents drivers from accessing distracting apps such as ones for instant messaging, while allowing others (such as those for navigation) to run without user intervention.
The platform also differentiates between passengers wishing to use their phones and the person sitting in the driver’s seat, granting access to those not behind the wheel.
“Ensuring the safe travels of our passengers and drivers is Egged Tour’s most important priority,” said Saadi Mohand Hamudi, VP Operation and Movement at the company.
“We believe that the SaverOne system reduces the chances of our drivers, who spend significant time driving, from becoming momentarily distracted by their phones, which is a major cause of traffic accidents. By integrating SaverOne’s systems into to the Egged Tours fleet, it is a testament to our dedication to setting the bar for the highest safety standards in the market today and enhances road safety for all users,” he said.
“We are very proud of the cooperation with Egged tours. This is a second recent and sizable order in the tour bus segment and further cements SaverOne’s presence in this key transportation vertical,” said SaverOne CEO Ori Gilboa.
“It is a strong market validation of the strategic importance of our solution in enhancing road safety. I believe that it is a clear indication of the growing recognition and trust in SaverOne’s ability to address driver distraction. We are very pleased with this new customer win and the long-term role it plays in our growing success.”
