The State of Florida last week hosted dozens of Israeli tech companies for a “pitch day” in the state’s capital Tallahassee.
The event was born of the concept that Israeli companies in different fields, such as healthcare and cybersecurity, could present ideas to help strengthen Florida’s resources and capabilities.
Thirty Israeli tech companies were invited to pitch for state agency leaders and procurement officials at the event. The day was jointly set up by Florida’s Department of Management and Department of Commerce in partnership with the Florida-Israel Business Accelerator (FIBA) and other Florida-based business organizations.
The companies present at the event included medtech company BioBeat; water treatment firm IDE Tech; and green energy startup Apollo Power.
“In addition to our one-of-a-kind economic relationship, there is no greater friend to Israel and the Jewish people than the DeSantis administration,” said Florida’s Lieutenant Governor Jeanette Nuñez of Governor Ron DeSantis.
“Bringing more Israeli businesses to Florida cements both our economic and cultural ties at a time when our partnership has never been more important,” she said.
“Today’s event was an opportunity to strengthen the bond that Florida and Israel share by linking groundbreaking tools with the state that’s on the forefront of cybersecurity resilience,” said Department of Management Services Secretary Pedro Allende.
“Israel has a long history of innovation, and we’re excited to find opportunities to collaborate.”
