An Israeli company whose AI subsurface imaging platform can generate a 3D map without disturbing the surface area has received a US federal fund to provide maps for the country’s power lines.
Tel Aviv-based Exodigo is also partnering with the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory, one of the US Department of Energy national labs, as part of the Grid Overhaul with Proactive, High-speed Undergrounding for Reliability, Resilience, and Security (GOPHURRS) program, which is being led by a branch of the US Department of Energy.
The maps form part of GOPHURRS’ current mission to modernize America’s aging power grid by developing underground technologies. With the use of AI, the project can evaluate subsurface obstacles before installation, which is meant to reduce cost and simplify the process.
“We are deeply honored to receive this federal funding, as it is a testament to our team’s relentless innovation and dedication,” said Exodigo CEO Jeremy Suard.
“Underscoring Exodigo’s commitment to revolutionizing undergrounding technology for power grids, we look forward to improving the resilience and efficiency of our nation’s energy infrastructure in collaboration with Pacific Northwest National Laboratory,” he said.
