Six Israeli startups have been included in TIME Magazine’s prestigious and annual Best Inventions list, which features 200 extraordinary innovations that are changing lives.
The startups included are:
Beewise, which has developed an AI-powered beehive that uses a chemical-free heat treatment to fight off the Varroa mite, a pest that attaches itself to bees as they develop in their cocoons and feeds on them, transmits viruses to them and can even kill them;
Wiliot, developer of a stamp-sized device that is placed on shipment boxes to transmit information about the delivery’s journey in real time as well as calculate the carbon footprint of shipping, storage, and more, and deliver that data to its client companies to help them analyze where they could cut carbon emissions;
Salignostics, which has developed the world’s first saliva-based pregnancy test, and that delivers accurate results in no more than 10 minutes;
Lumen, a handheld, breathalyzer-like device that accurately measures metabolism using a carbon dioxide sensor and is normally only possible to test in a clinical setting. The device can then determine whether the body is burning more fat or carbs at a given time, and advise users via a connected app on nutrition, exercise and rest; and
