Israel and the United Kingdom are deepening their tech and innovation collaboration, with a new agreement signed Wednesdsay.
As part of the deal, both nations will invest £1.7 million (approx. $2 million) in joint tech projects covering advanced research areas.
The capital will fund the UK-Israel Innovation Mobility Scheme, which supports British-based researchers traveling to Israel to work jointly with Israeli partners at the country’s top institutions.
It will also support the two countries’ existing collaboration by developing technologies to promote quantum computing.
The new deal is part of the £20 million (approx. $24.6 million) commitment for science, research and innovation collaboration in the UK-Israel Bilateral Roadmap, which was signed by the top diplomats of both countries in March.
“I believe this signing will contribute significantly to the scientific and technological cooperation and networking between scientists and entrepreneurs across many sectors in both our countries,” said Ofir Akunis, Israel’s Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology.
“Over the years, our two countries have developed excellent, cutting-edge technology in many fields. This collaboration will not only benefit our scientific communities but will also benefit the broader economy, and security of our nations.”
