Northwell Health, New York State’s largest healthcare provider, has struck a deal with Israeli medtech firm Aidoc to integrate its AI clinical platform in 17 hospitals.
The Aidoc platform uses AI algorithms to improve workflows for medical practitioners, boost treatment for patients and maximize resources.
The agreement includes 13 algorithms used in Aidoc software that already have clearance from the American Food and Drug Administration (FDA). Among other tasks, the algorithms can analyze images for abnormalities; perform triage for radiologists; and maintain patient care after discharge.
Aidoc’s technology will also facilitate AI integration into medical facilities’ existing platforms.
“Time efficiency remains of utmost importance in today’s health care landscape, whether it’s delivering care or making a diagnosis. When planning to implement AI, the key drivers are seamless integration with existing infrastructure, the ability for rapid deployment in a consistent manner and to optimize the use of IT talent,” said Sophy Lu Barbieri, senior VP and chief information officer at Northwell Health.
Northwell has 21 hospitals and some 900 outpatient clinics, treating more than 2 million people each year.
“Northwell’s commitment to leveraging AI innovations ensures that each patient receives the appropriate level of attention to support their healthcare journey,” said Aidoc CEO Elad Walach.
“By embracing a comprehensive AI strategy, Northwell is delivering a holistic strategy that propels success by maximizing resources and managing patients comprehensively across the entire organization.”
