An air purifier has been found to successfully remove a highly-contagious virus that kills hundreds of children every year.
Aura Air, an Israeli startup, says it can disinfect indoor air from 99.9 percent of viruses, bacteria, germs and allergens.
Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV) is a virus that causes coughing, fever, runny nose and other cold-like symptoms for a week, maybe two.
But for children under the age of five, it can cause difficulties in breathing, and it is the number one reason they are admitted to hospitals.
Every year, the virus causes around 58,000 annual hospitalizations, and results in the deaths of 100 to 300 children under the age of five.
Aura Air’s device was tested by Innovative Bioanalysis Laboratory, an independent company that tests the efficacy of devices. It also provides hematology tests (the study of blood and blood disorders) and urinalysis, among other areas.
The lab, as well as Sheba Medical Center, a leading Israeli medical facility, have previously confirmed that the Aura Air successfully filters and removes 99.99 percent of COVID-19.
The Tel-Aviv based startup has partnered with schools, hospitals, and medical associations like the New Jersey Hospital Association (NJHA) to help them combat the spread of RSV, COVID-19, and the flu.
“We are committed to helping hospitals mitigate the risks of the fast-spreading RSV,” said Roei Friedberg, CEO of Aura Air Americas.
“The results of the latest study demonstrate the effectiveness of our four-stage disinfection and purification system to fight the virus in the air. Young people are being hospitalized at alarming rates, overwhelming emergency rooms. Hospitals can count on Aura Air for modern solutions to get through this tripledemic crisis.”
