Defense giant Elbit Systems will provide new simulation and training centers for Israel’s Air Force in a new $180 million deal.
It has developed software that will accurately simulate weapons, as well as current and future battlefield environments.
The company says it will improve the quality of aircrew training, and double the number of training deployments of aircrews in the field.
Haifa-based Elbit, with an annual revenue of almost $5.5 billion, aims to provide realistic simulated battlefield training using all aircraft systems and mission scenarios to enhance all levels of pilot training.
The new mission training centers will include 10 simulators with advanced high-resolution displays.
The training centers should be ready in three years in a contract that includes operation and maintenance services for an additional 15 years. They’ll be added to existing ones, which will be upgraded as part of the contract.
“Elbit Systems appreciates the strong partnership and the confidence of the IMoD (Israel Ministry of Defense) and the IDF,” said Yoram Shmuely, General Manager of Elbit Systems Aerospace.
“Armed forces around the world are reshaping their training capabilities while striving to improve combat readiness and efficiency. This contract award emphasizes Elbit Systems’ leading position as a provider of advanced mission training systems.”
