$30M For Professional AI Photo-Editor Startup

Imagen, a startup that provides AI editing solutions for professional photographers, has raised $30 million. 

The Israeli company modernizes and improves their post-production workflow by automating image editing.

The more photos a photographer uploads, the more the AI can capture their editing style and accurately predict dozens of editing parameters. 

Its solution saves up to 90 per cent of post-production time, and turns many hours of manual work to seconds, while preserving their personal style.

The financing will be used to expand the service, and accelerate the company’s growth. 

“We built Imagen to make photographers’ lives easier,” said Yotam Gil, Co-founder and CEO.

“Our AI-powered solution is designed specifically to automate the tedious aspects of post-production work, allowing each artist to maintain and evolve his or her own creative style.

“Imagen essentially creates time for our photographers, allowing them to focus on the artistry of their work and deliver a better experience for their customers.”

The idea for the business came from one of the co-founder’s months-long wait for his wedding photos.

After speaking with numerous photographers, he found out that while advancements in digital photography had increased the number of images captured, post-production work was still repetitive and time-consuming, estimated at almost two hours for each hour of shooting time.

Because each photographer has their own unique style, the process could not be automated with existing tools.

Steffen Payer, a managing director with Summit Partners, which led the investment, said: “We believe Imagen offers a truly innovative, intuitive solution for the professional photography industry with broad applicability to numerous genres across the creator economy where high volumes of digital assets are generated – from events, e-commerce and travel to real estate, sports, food and portraiture.”

Imagen was founded in 2020, and is based in Tel Aviv.
