Moovit is now providing passengers globally with personalized travel information on its app.
The Israeli journey planning startup says new features introduced from today include return trip reminders, personalized trip suggestions, and instant travel suggestions based on previous app activity, current location, and the time of day or week. They’ll be rolled to users in 3,500 cities across 112 countries.
One new feature, Smart Cards, automatically displays the best ways a user can return to a location stored as a favorite once they move away from it. It can also automatically suggest the best trip plans to the user’s workplace address (when favorited) during weekday morning commute hours. Moovit says the app now predicts the user’s travel needs as soon as it’s opened.
“Moovit’s new Smart Cards are dynamic and are prioritized based on location, previous app activity, time of day and day of the week,” said Yovav Meydad, the company’s Chief Growth and Marketing Officer. “That, coupled with pre-set preferred modes of transit and reminders to head back, allow Moovit to provide users with an even more simplified and intuitive interface to improve the way they travel.”
Moovit is one of Israel’s most successful startups. It was launched as a free app in 2012, and after experiencing worldwide success, it was acquired by Intel for $900 million in 2020.
The company has expanded its services beyond a journey planner app. It now serves over a billion users worldwide and is expected to launch self-driving, ride-sharing services and electric shuttles.
