The Israel National Cyber Directorate and US aerospace giant Boeing signed a cyber defense cooperation agreement this week, the companies announced in a statement.
The agreement was signed by Gabi Portnoy, Head of the National Cyber Division, Boeing Israel President Maj. Gen. Edo Nehushtan and Boeing Vice President of Cyber Systems Management Brian Conley.
The agreement promotes sharing knowledge, identifying threats, and promoting the understanding of risks and methodologies to reduce them, as well as developing solutions for the protection of civil aviation, in cooperation with cyber and aviation industries in Israel and the US.
The agreement is part of a strategic joint plan by the Directorate and Israel’s Civil Aviation Authority to advance cyber-defense capabilities in civil aviation.
The civilian aircraft field is characterized by many technological developments that produce new complexities and cyber challenges, the companies said in the statement.
“More will join the collective effort following the agreement,” said Tamir Goren, director of technologies at the directorate, “Only with a joint international effort will we be able to ensure cybersecurity in civil aviation.”
