Israeli LED lighting and communications solutions provider, Juganu, a company working with Qualcomm to establish a 5G network in areas like the US and Brazil, showcased its latest 5G and smart city developments for the retail market this month during an event in Israel by a delegation that included communication giants from Qualcomm, Noki, and Abdi.
Alongside the global head of smart cities and digital transformation at Qualcomm, the CEO of Qualcomm Brazil, the CEO of Nokia Brazil, and Brazil’s Minister of Communications, Juganu displayed its capabilities and product solutions to promote its vision of ‘full connectivity’. These include metaverse integrations, the large-scale use of electric and smart vehicles, traffic regulation, as well as the countless number of apps that Juganu will enable by connecting streetlights to smart communications.
As part of the Juganu’s new activity, the 5G network of Nokia and Juganu has already been implemented within buildings and streets in Brazil as part of a pilot project that demonstrates to the rest of the world just how the unique deployment of 5G can dramatically reduce installation costs and time inputs. Beyond that, the company unveiled its solution for retail trade, which would enable precise customer journey management, customer counting, customer loyalty, and suspicious customer management, queue management, shelf management, image recognition, and real-time messaging, whilst actively abiding by privacy regulations.
Founded in 2011, Juganu develops and manufactures end-2-end platforms for apps and connectivity in public spaces and conjoins them within public lighting utilities. The platform then uses data from street lights together with communications systems (including 5G) for broadband data transmission, a variety of sensors, and IoE (internet of everything) apps as a basis for smart city infrastructures.
To date, Juganu’s smart communications are deployed across more than 15 countries, including Mexico, Brazil, Guatemala, USA (Philadelphia, Arlington, San Diego), Greece, and Israel. In Israel, the entire town of Or Yehuda is connected to Juganu’s technology.
“We are extremely excited to have reached this moment where we can now see the company’s vision becoming a reality,” said CEO and co-founder of Juganu, Eran Ben-Shmuel. “In Israel, people understand that the correct deployment of wireless communications and of 5G is what will facilitate implementation of future technologies enabling us to live comfortably, efficiently and support sustainability. We are extremely proud of the fact that such a distinguished delegation has come specially to Israel to experience Israeli technology that is expected to change the world, and the fact that the Ministry of Communications in Israel, headed by Minister Yoaz Hendel, is advancing this issue, working to create greater connectivity, and has expressed its trust in Juganu.”
