The city of Tel Aviv has been listed among the Top 20 Destinations for 2020 by the Forbes Travel Guide, published by US magazine Forbes.
The bi-weekly New Jersey-based magazine said the editors of the Forbes Travel Guide “curated a wanderlust-inciting list that spans from Monterey to Macau.”
“From one of the world’s biggest sporting events to milestone anniversaries to massive hotel projects, these global destinations can’t wait for January to get here,” the editors wrote.
The guide hails Tel Aviv as a place where “ancient history and modern living meet in the bustling beach city along Israel’s Mediterranean coast.”
It also suggests visitors check out The Setai in Jaffa, a luxury hotel built on a former fortress and Ottoman prison (and a favorite with travel magazines) as well as the newly opened White City Center. This museum, commemorating the 100th anniversary of the Bauhaus architecture movement, highlights the city’s unique look which includes a UNESCO-designated White City zone which is home to more than 4,000 Bahaus-style buildings, the largest collection of its kind in the world.
Other destinations that made the list include Las Vegas, the city that “can’t stand still” with new restaurants, properties, and renovations coming next year; Macau, the autonomous region on the south coast of China with a mix of cultural influence, luxurious hotels, world-class restaurants, and lavish casinos; Dubai, known for its over-the-top luxury and eye-catching architecture and art; Edinburgh, the Scottish city with new attractions such as the three-story Johnnie Walker Experience (part museum, event space and whiskey shop); and Jamaica, a place James Bond creator Ian Fleming called his seasonal home for nearly two decades.
