Amazon is reportedly making its first moves into the Israeli market, after months of speculation on whether it would set up shop in the Startup Nation.
According to reports in the Hebrew-language media, the US multinational retail giant has approached Israeli merchants with an offer to sell their goods through Amazon.com to Israeli customers. In October, Globes reported that Amazon had firm plans to launch a localized Hebrew-language e-commerce site.
There was no indication that Amazon plans to set up a fulfillment or shipping center in Israel at this time. Rather, through this strategy, Israeli merchants sell directly to local consumers.
According to Globes and Ynet, Amazon’s message to Israeli sellers required that they deliver their goods within up to five business days.
