A former Condé Nast executive, Joy Marcus, will join Jerusalem Venture Partners’ (JVP) team in its new US headquarters in New York City as a venture partner focused on digital media. She will join JVP’s media space portfolio companies as a board member, the venture capital firm said in a statement on Thursday.
Marcus was executive VP and general manager of digital video at Condé Nast Entertainment, the American mass media giant’s production and distribution studio. At JVP, she will “focus on deal flow in digital media in NYC and Israel, cultivating new talent and existing JVP portfolio companies, and acting as a mentor to women who are founders of emerging businesses,” JVP said.
JVP Founder and Chairman Erel Margalit said Marcus was a “recognized leader in the world of digital media and we are delighted to have her come on board as a Venture Partner based in New York,”
“With an already accomplished track record as a venture capitalist, working out of Hub.NYC by JVP, she will be a bridge between NY and Israel, and have her finger on the pulse of the most promising deals on the East Coast,” he added in reference to JVP’s newly launched HQ in SOHO which will also house JVP’s platform for cybersecurity ventures as part of its partnership in Cyber NYC, a new initiative spearheaded by the New York Economic Development Corporation (EDC).
Marcus said in a statement that working with JVP “will be an exhilarating and rewarding experience” and that “helping to grow the firm’s portfolio companies, who represent the best and brightest from Israel’s tech scene, as well as identifying and investing in next-generation startups here in New York, is truly a unique opportunity.”
