August 2, 2018 | Israeli cybersecurity company Solebit has been acquired by Massachusetts-based email and data security company Mimecast, the US company announced on Tuesday. The Israeli software security developer, which also has an office in San Francisco, was acquired for $88 million cash.
Solebit’s cloud-based, real-time SaaS platform provides unique approaches to the identification of malware and other unknown cyber threats in data files and external resources. According to the statement, Solebit also provides threat protection “to help customers face today’s broad threat landscape with evasion-aware, signature-less technology.”
Solebit provides Mimecast and its customers the insight into what was detected and why it was categorized as a threat.
“Security methods like signature-based antivirus and sandbox detonation are too limited when it comes to today’s most advanced threats. It’s time for a more capable, efficient and durable approach. We’re excited to welcome Solebit into the Mimecast family, as it helps us to offer customers a new approach that fundamentally improves their cybersecurity and resilience efficacy in the most efficient way on the market,” said Peter Bauer, chief executive officer at Mimecast.
