June 21, 2018 | Eight Israeli startups were on the World Economic Forum’s Technology Pioneers cohort of 2018 list, which was unveiled Thursday. The list brought together 61 early-stage companies from around the world that “are pioneering new technologies and innovations ranging from the use of artificial intelligence in drug discovery, the development of autonomous vehicles, advancing cybersecurity and reducing food waste, to applying blockchain to a decentralized engagement platform,” the World Economic Forum said on its website. Companies were divided into categories that included digital and entertainment, cybersecurity and digital identity, mobility, energy and environment, production, financial system, health, and food security and agriculture.
The Israeli companies recognized on the list included mobility startup Innoviz Technologies, known for its low-cost LiDAR remote sensing solution, Precognize Inc., an Israeli industrial maintenance software developer bought by German corporation Samson AG earlier this month; Vayyar Imaging, a company that develops mobile, low cost 3D imaging sensors; Aqua Security, a virtual container security startup; Raycatch, an AI-powered solar energy company; XM Cyber, the cybersecurity startup founded by former director of Mossad Tamir Pardo; Utilis, a satellite-based leak detection startup; and Water-Gen, a technology that extracts fresh water from the air.
