The Indo-Israel Centre for Excellence in Vegetables at Gharaunda, near Karnal, the first of its kind in the country, will be inaugurated on December 6.
The centre demonstrates advanced farm technologies of Israel to maximize cultivation and achieve quality production of vegetables. The state’s other Indo-Israel center, which focuses on excellence in cultivation of fruits, is likely to be inaugurated in the first quarter of 2011. With these two centers, Haryana is ahead of Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra and Rajasthan, where similar centers for horticulture and floriculture are in different stages of development. Israel is also working with the Himachal Pradesh government in this field.
