India’s Punjab state has signed a number of deals with Israel to advance cooperation on agriculture technology and water management to address farmers’ needs.
A total of four memorandums of understanding (MOUs) were inked this week during a state visit to Israel by Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh, according to reports in the local media.
The agreements will “help Punjab secure much needed technical expertise and know-how for strengthening its water management systems and improving its agricultural research and learning”, Singh said, according to the Hindu Business Line.
The deals include an MOU between the Punjab Water Resources Management and Israel’s Mekorot Development and Enterprise Ltd on water conservation and management; and three MOUs on agriculture research between the Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), and Israel’s Arava Institute, Tel Aviv University, and the Galilee International Management Institute.
