Uri Geller, the Israeli illusionist, is probably best known for bending a spoon with his mind on live television, or many of his other ‘mind-bending’ magic tricks. But now, the 67-year-old illusionist is setting out to solve more practical problems, like the purported bending of the newly released iPhone 6 in user’s pockets.
Geller, who is based in England, told MarketWatch that there are two possible explanations for why some iPhone 6 users (only nine according to Apple’s reports) are experiencing bending in their device. “There are two possible explanations. Either the phone is so seriously thin and flimsy that it is bendable with mere physical force, which I cannot believe given the extensive tests Apple would have done. Or…somehow the energy and excitement of the 10 million people who purchased iPhones has awakened their mind powers and caused the phones to bend,” Geller proposed.

In light of his insights into why the device is malleable, Geller even suggested to the publication that Apple make him a spokesman in order to explain what appears to be a production fault, “I urge Apple to hire me to explain to the world that this is not the company’s fault at all.” Geller continued, “I don’t own an iPhone 6—I’m loyal to my BlackBerry and would never change—but if I did I have no doubt I could bend it with my mind.”

In speaking with MarketWatch, Geller concluded that the bending of devices is not the woe of new iPhone 6 owners alone; in fact he says, “I’ve bent my old BlackBerrys before,” even sending in a picture to prove it.
So if you’re thinking of waiting until the iPhone 6 ‘bend gate’ incident dissipates to get Apple’s latest smartphone, that may be a good idea, particularly according to Geller’s calculations, because the more hype there is around the device, the stronger the ‘force’ that bends.
