An Israeli company that utilizes AI to improve communications for individuals from the deaf and hard-of-hearing community has been certified by the US Federal Communications Commission (FCC).
The app created by Nagish, which has offices in both Tel Aviv and New York, provides speech-to-text and text-to-speech services in real time for phone conversations.
It helps deaf or hard-of-hearing individuals while keeping conversations private, and was created with the support of large enterprises such as Comcast and Google Cloud.
The FCC has approved the company to offer automated services in the US, making it one of the few certified providers. A fund operated by the Commission provides refunds to certified providers that help make communication accessible.
Nagish has raised over $4 million since its inception, with investors that include Vertex Ventures Israel, Cardumen Capital and others.
“Nagish is the first end-to-end private relay service that empowers deaf and hard of hearing individuals to communicate without having a third party on the line,” said the company’s CEO Tomer Aharoni.
“Getting certified by the FCC as an AI-powered provider will change this notion forever – allowing Nagish to offer free, private, and accurate phone calls to people with hearing loss.”
