Israel’s ministry of environmental protection has decided to pay citizens that produce energy from their organic garbage, following some European countries’ example. For every kilo-watt of energy produced from garbage, Israelis will receive $2.1 US.
According to estimates, the amount of garbage that could be re-used to produce energy is close to 7 million ton per year, or 160 mega-watts of energy.
